The Perfect House
"Houdini couldn't hold a candle to her, and Merlin wasn't half as magnificent! In fact, if we could we would rename Marlene Ginsberg of Coldwell Banker "Marlene the Magnificent. She pulled our house like a rabbit out of a hat and the pre and post sale service and support that she has given us have been nothing short of 'magical'. ?Our impressions of her have remained as clear as that day in early September 1996 when we saw our house-to-be. My husband and I had had an extensive list of 'musts' for Marlene to meet not to mention that we were looking during a 'housing supply slump'. And after four frustrating days of searching for 'the perfect house' in three counties - two of which were with Marlene in Morris County-we touched base with Marlene again to see if she had found anything else for us to look at. She told us 'I have the perfect house for you.' The 'perfect house' Marlene had was not even on the market at the time. Marlene, being the go--getter she is and determined to find something for us, had phoned the owners (who had listed the house with her a month or so before but who had taken it off the market) to see if they were interested in letting us look at it. Another agent had tried to do the same, but only Marlene had the magic touch it took to get the owners to agree. And sure enough, it was the house for us and we are happily living in it now! But Marlene did not sell us just a house; she helped us make it a home. No, she didn't help us unpack the boxes (oh. well. there's only so much magic up those sleeves!). But what she did do was connect us socially to the area. Before we arrived in New Jersey for our house hunting expedition, Marlene told us that she would be more than just an agent; that she would treat us like a sister. We're so lucky she decided to adopt us! Even after closing on the house Marlene has continued to touch base with us to give us phone numbers and information about 'who's who' and 'what's what' in and around our neighborhood."

Buyers Remorse >The Blues of Buyers
Here is an illustration of what you might go through as a homebuyer when the real estate agent calls to say that your offer has just been accepted.
Although you are ecstatic when your agent congratulates you, your initial euphoria may be short-lived if you begin to have second thoughts about the purchase. You may look at the amount of cash required for the down payment and closing costs, and feel that you won't be able to enjoy a restaurant meal or a shopping spree for months! The mortgage added to the interest payments over thirty years seems like an outrageously high sum. Finally, you stare at the inspector's report and convince yourself that the roof will blow off and every major system will fail the day after you move in. You're in a frenzy. You ask yourself, "What am I doing?"
If you begin having doubts about your home purchase, the wisest approach is simply to relax! These feelings are so common that they have been given a name--"Buyer's Remorse." "Buyer's Remorse" is almost always a temporary malady, so please call your real estate agent if you are having an extreme attack. Your agent has experience in helping clients through the home-buying jitters.
